This more than anything. The hero's love interest is a marked character. Lana Lang on
Smallville
, Barbara Kean and Lee Tompkins on
Gotham
, Laurel Lance on
Arrow
, Mary Jane in the Raimi Spider-Man's, Iris on this show. Love interests are generally written as hero-dependent, two-faced annoying Mary Sues. Lois Lane on
Smallville
is a rare exception where the love interest was actually likable. -

Yeah I appreciate them having a more diverse cast than the comic provides for, but I always thought Grant and Danielle had a lot of chemistry together. Back in season one when they went out drinking together was when I really first noticed it and I saw the spark again last night. I doubt they'll go down that road, but they should.

I'll never understand shippers. I had no idea what any of it was until I started hitting the Smallville boards during its run. The folks who insisted that Clark had to end up with Lana and to hell with 60+ years of comic book continuity just frustrated me to no end.
You know why these shows get made? Because of the dedication of comic book readers. Yes, they get adapted for a more general audience, but if you deviate too much from the source material, you alienate the core fanbase.
I guess I can deal with shippers for the most part, as long as they're not the ones who get overly belligerent about their shipping, or the ones who get near violent because showrunners refuse to bow to their demands.
And don't get me started on fan fiction -

They did make many changes to Iris and Barry on this barely keeping tribute to 75 + years of history. First, with changing her and Joe's race therefore making them CINOs (Character In Name Only), the other is their origin regarding Barry and Iris growing up in the same house as step-siblings, third is she's a journalist that actually does her job, much like Lois Lane.
Funny I checked out that link and the majority of the Flash fan fiction section is full of Snowbarry stories, that website is the most popular for fan fiction according to top sites. Westallens think they are so popular huh? Why aren't they churning out stories for their deity couple? -

It's all about her black skin isn't it? To me it really doesn't matter what color she is, she's badly written and in turn makes Barry an awful person. No one likes these two together besides idiots like yourself who only see skin color and mistake awful writing for epic romances.

Honestly, to hell with fan fiction. Am I supposed to care what fan fiction is more popular, or what gets written more? I have no problem with people writing it, but the fac that there are so many websites dedicated to it? Here's an idea. Create your own characters, situations, plot devices and settings, and make something - are you ready for this - original.
And I know changes are going to be made. I'm fine with change as it's an adaptation. But to throw hissy fits online the way I've seen some shippers do because their ships aren't going to be given credence? Whatever. -

I think Wells and Caitlin would be hot.
I think Iris is fine how she is. There is nothing wrong with being the girlfriend, daughter, sister, friend, with heroic qualities. The Flash is incapable of telling stories not centered around Barry for more than an episode or two, primarily because of there "We must have a meta every episode" philosophy.
What function does Joe really serve? He's a cop, but he can't take down any meta. Sure he has a great job title, but he's saved no more people than Iris. He saved Barry twice. Iris saved Caitlin.
Where are the Asian characters DC CW? #MoreAsians
And damn they both look good on the screen. I wish Danielle Panabaker was playing Iris West.
