Stuck in there like Zod and gang were stuck in the Phantom Zone. Only Superman can break him free but ironically he is not allowed to enter a relationship with Lois. He must give up his powers to be with her, must suffer a metaphorical vasectomy. Lois loves Superman, not Clark, but she doesn't stop him. She likes that he would give up his powers for her. I read something recently where a woman said women want men to get vasectomies because it gives them leverage over the man. He can still leave her but he can't start another family so has less reason to leave. I don't know if that is true but Lois hints at this when she admits, "I am selfish when it comes to you, I am selfish. And I'm jealous of the whole world."
