There's no end to the sick freaks out there:
As Russia's assault on Ukraine continues, more than 2.5 million Ukrainians have made their way towards neighbouring countries. But there's growing concern that these refugees – largely women and children – may be targeted by human traffickers.
"I think unfortunately, every time we see a natural disaster or a conflict like this where children are separated from their families, you get the risk of these kinds of exploitation of children and trafficking or other types of abuse. And so, we're always on the lookout for that," Mike Weickert, response director for World Vision's global rapid response team, told CTV News Channel on Saturday.
Already, there are stories of displaced Ukrainians arriving in a neighbouring country, only to be subjected to a different kind of violence. One man was detained in Poland suspected of raping a 19-year-old refugee he'd lured with offers of shelter after she fled war-torn Ukraine. Another was overheard promising work and a room to a 16-year-old girl before authorities intervened.
Inside a refugee camp at Poland's Medyka border, a man raised suspicions after offering help only to women and children. When questioned by police, he changed his story.
Among the displaced Ukranians include 44-year-old Iryna Pypypenko, who waited inside a tent with her two children, sheltering from the cold. She said a friend in Berlin who is looking for accommodation for her has warned her to beware of possibly nefarious offers.
"She told me there are many, very dangerous propositions," said Pypypenko, whose husband and parents stayed behind in Ukraine. "She told me that I have to communicate only with official people and believe only the information they give me."
Andreea Bujor, communications advocacy director for World Vision, says the risk for refugees fleeing is "very high."
"A lot of women are trafficked every year, and children, because it is a risk not only for women but also for children," Bujor told CTV National News’ Heather Butts. "The risks for other people that can capitalize on the pain of these families is very high."
With concerns that children and orphans may be targets, UNICEF is creating specific centres where Ukrainian refugees can access counselors and child protection specialists as well as a hot meal, blankets and clothing.
"We have counsellors and child protection specialists who can identify vulnerable families, vulnerable children, including children who may be travelling alone, and make sure that they're referred to the services that they require and they get that protection," said UNICEF communications specialist Joe English in an interview with CTV News Channel.
"The children, especially, have been in incredibly traumatic experiences, both in terms of what they've been through inside the country, but then also having to flee their homes. Many have travelled for 20, 30 hours at a time," English added.
Germany's foreign minister announced on Saturday that the country is setting up a so-called 'green corridor' through Romania, creating a system with buses to help people travel quickly and safely to other countries in Europe and around the world. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has also committed to taking in Ukrainian refugees to ease the burden off of Ukraine's neighbours.
"I think we need to recognize that everybody's got to pitch in. Everyone's got to help find some solutions here. It can't be just up to the neighbouring countries," Weickert said.

        Another messed-up story about refugees:
For Grace Kass, Ukraine was home. Sure, it could be unwelcoming for a Black woman, and she would never get used to its bitterly cold winters, but it’s where she had lived for the past seven years. The 24-year-old, from the Democratic Republic of Congo, had come to Ukraine’s second-largest city of Kharkiv as an engineering student and stayed on, forging a successful career as a make-up artist.
She knew its parks and fountains, she learned Russian and some Ukrainian, she made close friends—in a word, she belonged. “This was not just a place where I lived, I was making something of my life,” Kass says, fighting back tears in the train station of the Polish city of Przemysl on the border with Ukraine.
It was Monday evening and she had fled Ukraine overnight, on Feb. 27, the fourth day of a full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. She made it out just in time: a day after leaving Kharkiv in northeastern Ukraine, the city was bombarded with Russian rockets that killed dozens of civilians. But when Kass reached Lviv in Ukraine’s west near Poland, joining the heaving crowds desperately trying to board trains for safety, she says
she encountered hostility from the Ukrainian military, who were dividing people into two groups: those who were white, and those who were not
        .
“We entered the train last,” Kass says, describing how she and other African women were forced to wait outside as snow was falling, while white women and children were allowed to board before them. She believes her gender is the only reason she was spared being beaten. Groups of Nepalese, Indian and Somalian men described to TIME how they were kicked and beaten with batons by Ukrainian guards who later begrudgingly allowed them to cross over, on foot.
Later, when Kass’s train stopped for 17 hours at the Polish border, she says Ukrainian train guards gave out bread and sausages to passengers. But they passed by Kass and her African friends. “By the time it was our turn, they threw us the ends of stale bread,” she says. After spending more than a third of her life in Ukraine, she felt let down. “It was a traumatic experience.”

I would like to see a source for that story. It sounds like Russian propaganda.

It's at the TIME link I provided. Here's an alternate link to the same article:
            https://www.yahoo.com/now/called-ukraine-home-faced-violence-001944833.html
I noticed the captions below the pictures have names of people who aren't in the article though, so that seems odd. For instance, "Grace Kass" and "Ahmed Mohamoud Abdullahi" are mentioned in the article, but the pictures are of other people not mentioned in the article (like "Karen" and "Parvinder Singh").

Maybe they would have better protection under their husbands and fathers if Uke would stop with the forced draft of them.
                    That is so ****ing wrong.

They let some men leave. There was a guy who said they let him leave Ukraine because he's the only "breadwinner" in the family, and his wife takes care of their two special-needs kids.
They were also showing some people who left Ukraine and were staying in a house in Romania, and one of them was a Ukrainian man. Although he might've left before they said men 18-60 couldn't leave. But since they let the guy with two special-needs kids leave, I'm sure they let other men leave, like single fathers, disabled men, etc.
There were stories of women who left Ukraine, dropped off their kids in a different country, and then went back to Ukraine to fight.
Men who aren't allowed to leave can probably hide out and not fight if they don't want to. But I'm surprised they don't say, "Able-bodied women without children have to stay." Ukraine has a lot of women in active combat, and people always say guns are "the great equalizer," so I'm curious why women aren't told to stay and fight.
If it's because of the risk of rape by Russian soldiers, women can be supplied with "anti-rape underwear."
Anti-rape underwear, a fashionable vest that can jolt molesters out of their wits or a watch-like device fitted to give abusers an electric shock — students from various colleges and schools in the country are channelling their outrage and anger over sexual attacks on women in the country through several futuristic innovations.
Externally, it looks like a nightgown, ordinarily worn by women or teenage girls, but the garment is literally a power-packed GPS and sensor-enabled device capable of temporarily incapacitating assaulters off their feet by triggering a 3800 kV electric shock at the press of a button by the wearer.
"It was the pain of every woman, which triggered the idea. All the more, it was hatred against molesters and eve-teasers which led to this design," says Manisha Mohan the inventor of the "anti-rape underwear" and what she calls 'SHE' or Society Harnessing Equipment.
Apart from administering a powerful shock to the assaulter, the garment is also devised to send an alert to the Police when the sensors are activated.

                        molesters and eve-teasers
                        In case anyone is wondering:
Eve teasing is a euphemism, primarily occurring in Indian English, used for public sexual harassment or sexual assault of women by men and vice-versa.

                          I expected this.
The thing about splitting up husbands from their families is you’re potentially sacrificing the family so the husband can fight for country. Human trafficking and also opportunistic male suitors are all looking at this influx of desperate and scared women and unfortunately children with hungry eyes.
I wonder how these predators feel about themselves. Perhaps their families are similarly under pressure from traffickers and that’s why they do it. Has to be some truly deranged level of leverage to make someone do this.
                          Stop.
