No doubt there are already scores of New Hampshire residents ready to toss him in a river.
BOSTON — When an employee of the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in New Hampshire showed signs of possible coronavirus last week, a medical worker who had examined him told him to avoid contact with others, pending further tests. Instead, he went to a mixer at a crowded music venue.
Three days later, he was confirmed as the state’s first coronavirus case.
And now a second case has been confirmed — a “close contact” of the patient’s — raising new questions about what should happen when suspected coronavirus patients ignore requests to self-quarantine.
The man, who had come down with flu-like symptoms after a trip to Italy, has now been officially ordered by New Hampshire’s health commissioner to isolate himself at home.

People are basically selfish and very stupid. -

Very true, but thankfully there are plenty of unselfish people who would not put others in danger. Some will out those who act so cavalierly and there may be (should be) forced quarantining.
There will be many stories of those who made sacrifices in others' interest when this is all over.

It is bizarre because the people in question have people in their lives who are vulnerable healthwise and I can't help thinking it's a dangerous and selfish move.
I'd be more than happy to isolate myself!
Do you have any cases in your area?
Another worrying thing is the kind of stigma that is becoming attached to those infected may well stop people from reporting symptoms. -

Nothing in my area. I'd be happy to isolate, too. I believe most would if it didn't radically affect them financially.
What kind of stigma might interfere with people reporting their symptoms?
