If this were a modern film, Meyers would turn out to be gender fluid, and he'd end up in bed with Tom

Michael can watch and jerk off as Challis ****s the living **** out of Laurie Strode.
You've seen Guy Standeven in something because the man was in everything.

I would have liked at least one in film reference to the Michael Myers films to prove they were part of the same series in a way that the other characters knew to so acknowledge. I think it would have helped the movie.

            There was a slight reference.
It was when Challis was sitting in the bar. He was watching the TV when the Halloween preview came on. This was just before Ellie came in to talk with him after her father's death.
I think it would have helped the movie.
Blue Wave, I doubt that you are still around, but just in case you are, Why would reference to the Micheal Myers films have helped this movie?
Personally, IMO, this movie needs no help…
            Perfectly fine on it's own.
If anything, the Halloween III wasn't needed.
Season of the Witch would have "helped this movie" just fine.
You asked a pretty question; I've given you the ugly answer.

It would have helped with the mask for the one thing. It would have helped by letting peole say "Wow! Maybe a mask that powerful is why Michael can resist bullets for example!".
