I'm not sure who you are replying too. If I said I read the book I meant I had read the short story. I'm surprised my old topic is still up with so many replies .
I've since read up on the case about the interracial couple who fought to be able to get married back in the day 1967. Reminds me of the couple on "Aquarius" and some of the issues they are going through. -

My mom is Black and my dad White. I was born in '62 and they were married. There were a few southern states where it was illegalwe tried not to go to themand people gave us our family a hard time but it happened.

to the OP it was 1975, but yes it was legal and a few (not many, actually barely anyone) had inter racial marriages, though as you can imagine 12 years after the civil rights movement got HUGE racial tensions were fierce.
infact today (i live in a rural part of texas) in many non urban or suburban towns inter racial marraige is still a frowned apon thing, as my grandma would put it "i dont want you dating those colored girls im not racist but eagles dont fly with crows and pigeons" which comparing whites to eagles and colored people to crows and pigeons is pretty racist she lied -

Interracial marriage was not common at ALL in the 70's. That's part of why I wonder why they made the wife black and then never addressed it. A lot of schools up north were still segregated back then - Southern schools were desegregated first and those actors don't talk like they are from the South:)
I am trying to figure out how they would have met and dated in a supportive environment and just can't do it.
Oh, well, she is a good actress and played the shrew so well a lot of you want her quiet!
