On this date–21 August–in 1998, Stephen Norrington's BLADE first hit movie screens. Starring Wesley Snipes as the titular vampire-hunting hero, the film was a big hit, nearly tripling its budget, despite an R-rating that conventional wisdom suggested would hurt its box office. Besides just being a great movie, BLADE is a milestone, in that it's success was the kick-off of the comic-book movie craze that, for better or worse, has continued ever since–for 26 years now.

Seriously bad-ass movie. Love that although it's superhero comic book adaptation it's still really dark and gritty as all ****.
You've seen Guy Standeven in something because the man was in everything.
