It may surprise some to know that Jack Lord's famous hairdo is actually a toupee. He began wearing it at least as early as "Dr. No" (1962).

I can see where a rumor like that would get started. He typically wore so much hair spray in his hair that it never moved, even in strong winds - and not just in "5.0", either - check out his earlier stuff as well.
        [oh, never mind]

If you watched his earlier films, you would have noticed he had a shorter hairsytle, which would not have allowed for hair to fall loosely about. Other actors of the time had he same hairstyle.
There were many times on Hawaii Five-O when his hair got tousled or looked disheveled, or blew around in the wind. All that is there on film for you to see, and if you watched his work so closely like you claim, you would have noticed it.
Dreaming is nice, but it's time to stop dreaming and start doing.

Actress Sharon Farrell, who was in 13 episodes of Five-O stated that Lord wore a partial toupee to cover male pattern baldness on his crown, similar to Ted Danson during Cheers.
The man was 48 when Five-O began, 60 when it ended. Most men in their 50s have some type baldness.

Sharon Farrell is not a credible source on anything. In that interview where she made that comment, she said a lot of nasty things about Jack. She said he and his wife stalked her and that Jack was a racist, among other things. She has suffered from brain damage since her son was born in 1970, so nothing she says is the truth. She claimed Jack treated his wife like a slave. Are you endorsing that?
Jack's hair stylist, Cherie Huffman, wrote a book about her work in Hollywood, said Jack's hair was his own. Other actors who worked with him, including James MacArthur and guest stars from the 12th season - when Sharon was a series regular - like Jack Stauffer and Bob Turnbull have said that Jack's hair was his own. I've seen photos of Jack taken in the '80s when he was no longer acting and his hair was a lighter color, and he was not wearing a toupee. People who knew him during that time also confirm that his hair was his own. They are all different people who worked on the show at different times.
Jack's hair was styled differently throughout the series, so he could not have been wearing one wig or hairpiece, but many. Where are they and who made them, and why didn't that manufacturer come forward? There are many men who have full heads of hair between 48 and 60. Jack's father and brothers all had full heads of hair, so it's not too hard to believe he did.

I just read a couple of your other posts - you're really hung about toupees, eh?

Is Jack Lord the father of Jon Lord?
                          Jack Lord is ancient
