    The unaware townsfolk gradually realizing they are victimized by hordes of menacing creatures, barricaded in the house, etc. Add that Psycho invented the slasher film, and North By Northwest in many ways the James Bond film, and Hitchcock's influence is far beyond just camera tricks

          I would say it invented the natural horror sub-genre more so.

            You are seriously unaware of cinema history if you think this flick invented anything for the first time.
            Nor did 'Psycho' invent slashing, nor did 'NxNW' invent international intrigue. There was fifty years of filmmaking before any of these titles emerged.
