Yes, similar to James Stewart and Agnes Moorehead she played his mother in
The Stratton Story
but was only eight years older than Mr. Stewart. Both actresses were good at playing older characters and making it believable. -

It wasn't really believable though. In fact it was kind of ludicrous - and they didn't really try to play down Cary Grant's middle agedness, either, which may have helped a bit. Basically she looks like a 60 year old and he looks 50-something. Although it wasn't quite as ludicrous as Rosalie Crutchley playing Montgomery Clift's mother in Freud.

Not even 8. Not to split hairs but she was just a couple of months more than 7 years older than her "son". There was a similar smallish gap between Julie Andrews and Charmian Carr, her stepdaughter in Sound of Music.
I have seen enough to know I have seen too much.
