I thought the lighting in this film was exceptionally good, especially during the sequences in the cab of the truck. I enjoy road pictures and this one almost qualifies. Was that the Burma Road they were on? The scene where William Bendix is milking the cow on the farm was well played by Loretta Young. She is so spontaneous, and gives so much to the moment. I also thought that the ending was poignant and quite out of step with the happy endings of the time.

Good point(s).
For anyone who likes the Ladd-Young pairing, they teamed up again in another Paramount flick called AND NOW TOMORROW (1944). That picture is more of a traditional tearjerker/romance drama.
The two stars did not always get along behind the scenes, but they made two great movies together.
