      Yeah, that's a fair rating. Definitely good, but not up to classics like WHITE HEAT, ANGELS WITH DIRTY FACES, PUBLIC ENEMY, LITTLE CEASARM, THE PETRIFIED FOREST, Etc.
      Life, every now and then, behaves as though it had seen too many bad movies

          I like
          Beast Of The City
          better than most people. Its flaws are many, yet there's a kind of stone cold melodrama at the core of this one that, while admit it lays it on thick is done with what I can best describe as class. The actors are good, the criminals more wretched than most: The shootout at the end is something to see. Walter Huston sells it, and his hammy underacting actually helps to make it work. There a strong, virile emotional quality in the picture, and it kept me keep my eyes on the screen.
