the last great (and real) success they had was freeing Europe from Nazi Germany and then rebuilding Germany to a strong, resilient nation by establishing a democratic stronghold in the heart of Europe against the Stalinist imperialist terror rising in the East. with the eventual collapse of the Soviet Union 40 years later, the reunification of Germany and ultimately of Europe, the Cold War was brought to a successful ending, from a Western point of view.
everything the US tried at succeeding after the end of World War 2 turned into epic failures: Korea, Vietnam, Nicaragua, Iraq 2x, Afghanistan…
currently they are supporting Ukraine against Russia, rather successfully imo, but it's yet to see how that is gonna turn out in the end.
