Did you almost have another name?

My dad wanted to name me John after his grandfather, and my mom wanted to name me Justin Michael. Mom didn't like the name John, especially because she dated jerks named John, and my dad thought Justin Michael sounded too similar to Justin Wilson, the TV chef.
Glad they went with my name, but I used to hate my name. It sounded too soft. I wanted to be named Jason, Seth, or Sid.
My sister was almost named Melanie. I remember I wanted her name to be Ariel because I was watching a lot of Little Mermaid around the time my mom was pregnant for her. -

However, if I was a boy, my name would have been Jonah or Jonas. I can’t quite recall which one I was told. -

I actually did have another name in that my entire family called me by my middle name…which I was not a fan of. In the fourth grade I attended a new school and on day one I submitted my actual first name as the one I wanted to be called.
Hint for anyone stoppid enough to believe Steve lake…neither are Eric lol.
No one calls me by my middle name anymore

I knew people like that, whether it be from them wanting the name or others using it. I also knew a guy who switched around 4th or 5th grade.
I used to hate my full name being used. I don't know why. Guess it sounded too formal, and I was a backwards hat wearing 90's kid lol.
What I also hated was being called my last name. Started in junior high from kids in my PE class because that's what we were called by the coach. -

It wasn't about hating my last name. I just thought it was weird, after being called my first name most of my life lol.
Though, I've gone back and forth about my last name. I love it's unique, but at times as a kid, I thought it was too weird a name.
These days, I love the uniqueness, but hate that it's associated with people I hate. -

No, just terrible family members. I hate most of my family. Not the family I consider family, but the child molester and the ones who gaslighed, denied, and protected the guy, among other things like being actually racist… unlike me who's only racist in that I like offensive humor and the catharsis of using taboo words.
