"Sometimes it's better to keep the genie in the bottle."
"Sometimes when you're haunted it's like stepping in gum - it stays with you."
Both of these make me cringe. I
    almost
wish they'd do a bunch more just to make it an obnoxious characteristic, but it's clear that he's meant to be likable. Which he is, for the most part.
Sad story. You got a smoke?

Lmao I agree, the gum analogy was especially cringeworthy though, I couldn't believe it made the final cut.

Funny, I thought the gum analogy was a good one.

I mean, it gets the point across. The genie one did too. It's more that he's saying these with a totally straight face.

So then what's the problem? What made you cringe?

The delivery. The lines were too silly, however effective as analogies, for the intense srsface going on. Didn't work for me!

Fair enough. I can't argue with your subjective perception except to say I had the opposite experience, particularly with the gum analogy. I actually thought to myself, "Huh, that's a nifty bit of writing there."

                      I loved the gum analogy.
You've seen Guy Standeven in something because the man was in everything.
