Arcade is a 90's B-movie classic!

I love "Arcade"! Yes, it's campy. True, the special effects were low budget, and unimpressive, but so what? That's the beauty of the "B-movie". They're not candy-coated, over the top, Hollywood clones. This is just the kind of movie I would love to see on cable at 2 A.M. on a school night back in the day. It may sound strange to some, but I see Arcade as being like a feature length episode of Nickelodeons's "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" show, which I also love.
It seems that Arcade is the type of movie you would had to have seen, and enjoyed in some way back in 1993, in order to appreciate it now. At this point, Arcade is 13 years old, and just doesn't stand up to what would now be considered a "B-Movie". Now, for me, Arcade begins to provide a nostalgic feeling that I have thus far only gotten from my favorite, lesser known 80's flicks like "The Quest", or "Making Contact".
There were some interesting stars in Arcade. I was especially excited to see A.J. Langer in this film as "Laurie", and have always felt disappointed that she wasn't a main character. A.J. is gorgeous, and to see her having had a bigger part in this film would have really thrown it over the top for me. It was back in 1991 when I discovered A.J. in Wes Craven's, "The People Under the Stairs", which was also a pretty campy, but highly entertaining movie. I fell in love with A.J. instantly. I guess I can thank old games like Super Mario Brothers for the fact that all my life, I've wanted to save a princess. I always saw A.J. as the sort of misguided girl that needed saving in the roles she played. In Arcade, Laurie is playing the game at home, and becomes so involved with it, that she ends up staring at a blank screen while rocking back, and forth. I really wanted to be there with her friends, trying to help her.
Anyone who remembers "A Christmas Story", or "The Dirtbike Kid", both starring Peter Billingsly, will recognize him in Arcade as "Nick". Unfortunately, his acting skills have gotten worse since his previous films, but just the same, it's interesting to see him in this darker, weirder movie. I have to admit, I think it was Arcade that officially killed Peter's already flailing acting career. I'll remember him fondly.
Arcade also stars Seth Green, and who doesn't like Seth Green?
Arcade is a cheesy, low-budget, poorly scripted film, butI LOVE IT! Arcade is truly a 90's B-Movie classic. -

I feel the same way. And though Peter Billingsly isn't the best actor he's still one of my favorites from back in the day. And I love all things campy. Not saying that they all are but my favorite movies from the late 80's early 90's are:
My stepmother is an alien
Arcade (of course.)
Brainscan
Howard the Duck
High Spirits
Haunted honeymoon
"It eats you, starting with your bottom."

Hi Guys, how are you ?
Ok I respect your opinion but..
This movie was made.. 2 years after "T2" so I think that. moOAH hA hA hA..:-p
Don't get me wrong, I love cheesy B-movies, I'm a Charles Band's enthusiast but this one was. ha ha ha.:-p
Funny to watch, quite boring most of the time to me.. but I always love to see L.A. in the present time or years ago. Megan Ward is abolutely lovely and very very cute to me ("Crash&Burn"!!)
Have a nice day!

Sorry you guys but this movie is actually pretty damn good. The graphics were very well done with the budget they had. I just got finished watching this last night, and it was still a very fun movie. I love Full Moon movies, and this one is just one of those old classics. The Screamer looked amazing, should have had him into it a bit more, but I loved the voice of Arcade. The mother dream sequences did not bother me, it made point to the story, since she felt guilty of not saving her mother. Good cast, nice effects, decent story. Altogether I would rate it a 7 out of 10.

The deadly virtual reality videogame premise is pretty damn silly, but it nonetheless still works because director Albert Pyun and writer David S. Goyer treat said inane premise as seriously as a terminal cancer diagnosis. The cut-rate cruddy CGI virtual reality effects are an absolute ****ty hoot to behold. Moreover, super cutie Megan Ward makes for an immensely appealing protagonist. 7 out of 10 from me.
You've seen Guy Standeven in something because the man was in everything.
