Hypothetical: You count your games and there are 50 of them.
On closer inspection you realise you have two copies of a game, one for the 360 and one for the PS3.
Would you now say that you have 49 games?
What if you had a PS1 game downloaded on PSN as well as a boxed original? Another subtraction from the collection count?

The thinking in play here seems sound.

I'd count cross console copies as separate unless they're 100% identical, physical or otherwise.

        Iced Earth
        and play
        Doom

Do in that second example, a digital and physical version of the same game, would that count for two or one?

They'd have to be exact ports of each other, down to the load times, to be counted as one copy, to which I'd treat the digit release as a backup copy.

            Iced Earth
            and play
            Doom

              You'd have 49
              titles
              .
There's no real answer I guess. If I had 10 copies of the same game, I'd only really have 1 game to play. But then again I could point to one and say "there's a game" and to another and say "there's a game, too."

I think it depends on if its exactly the same game on the PS3 and the 360. I have the Simpsons Game for the PS2 and the 360. The 360 version has additional levels and different powers for the characters so I consider it a different game from the PS2 version.
