They didn't want to score here. They wanted to run the clock down as much as they could and then kick a field goal to win the game. Instead they gave the ball back to the Lions with a minute to go, who ended up taking it down the field and scoring a touchdown with no time left on the clock. Game over, the Falcons lose.
