I totally agree! She's powerful and her performances were spectacular. It really sucks that her coaches made her feel so ashamed because she didn't fit the cookie cutter idea of what a gymnast is supposed to look like, regardless of how strong her performance is. She reminded me of Tonya Harding, and how Tonya wasn't this elegant, slim, delicate flower, but rather, she was an explosive and powerful skater. There's so much pressure on women to look a certain way.

She reminded me of Tonya Harding…
Did you happen to see the movie, "I, Tonya."
It is a really, really good movie based on her and what she went through.
I didn't know much about her but I loved at how she was not one of the rich and privileged girly girl type like so many other skaters are.
It ended up making me sympathize with her and all the **** she went through.
If you have not, check out I, Tonya.
I don't think you would be disappointed.

I haven't seen the movie, but I've heard about it. I was already familiar with her story and her rough origins given she's been very open about it. I appreciated her for being more "real" and expressive and didn't look or skate like a doll on ice. I really appreciated her power and explosiveness in skating. After her quadruple, I remember being disappointed that they took points away from her because she displayed excitement that she succeeded at landing this triumphant jump, the first to ever do so.

That is such a bogus reason for taking points away.
That is the problem with those types of sports where the judges are biased or perhaps maybe even at times paid off to reduce points for the other country they are not from or enemies with.

I thought she looked gorgeous. She's shapely.
