Evidence has been unearthed in Hawaii of 3 foot tall furry man-apes living in the past 10k-16000 years. That means they were alive alongside modern man.
Also many scientists believe 2% of modern humans have Neanderthal DNA.
Perhaps there are some pure blooded humanoids living in the alps or whatever, blissfully unaware of our stupid species, hunting deer with their bare hands and walking around to and fro, completely naked.

That pretty ****ing cool though.
Imagine one of those guys get out into society and he gets laid and has kids. Those kids could become olympic athletes with Neanderthal strength and the developed mind of a homo sapien. Maybe they also post pics of themselves in bikinis on filmboards
