Friday is movie day; when all the new movies premiere in the theatres.
So what movies are you looking forward to seeing and what do you want from the candy counter? And if you've already seen a good movie you'd like to discuss let's hear about itwhether it's in the theatre or at home on On Demand or wherever.
And rememberCousin Countie's buying so go ahead and splurge.
Me? I wanna see "La La Land" with a big ol' tub of hot buttered popcorn, some Raisinettes, and a large Sprite with lotsa ice.
    What about you?

I have tried and failed 3 times to see Sing. I really want to see it. The last time i went it was sold out so i saw La La Land instead. It was okay but certainly does not live up to the hype and all the nominations. I was bored through most of it, but it was okay, not awful. I love musicals and this one is no where near as good as others, certainly does not belong in the "classic movie" category.
I want to see that one about the boy and his imaginary friend that is a tree come to life outside his window. Can't think of the name of it.
Want to see Hidden Figures. It looks like a really good story.
Want to see A Dog's Purpose in spite of the fact that PETA says i shouldn't.
When i went to see La La Land, there were two previews that looked exceptional. I can't remember the titles of either of them but Octavia Spencer is in both. Will definitely look for those in a few weeks.
Not a fan of movie theater popcorn because it's overpriced and too salty and i don't like that fake butter. But if you're being generous I'd love to share your Raisinets.

          I recently saw
          Fences
          and
          La La Land
. Fences was depressing. La La Land was okay.
If there was a category for least likable character then Denzel Washington should win the Oscar for that.
          Fences
is not even one of those feel good movie moments from a sad drama film. It was just plain depressing. I hope no awards are won for it because they then make other ones like it; they probably will anyway.
          La La Land
was better than I thought it would be. I'm not usually one for musicals. I do know people who break into song at a given moment but not entire stage dance numbers. I did like the old movie feel to it. It wasn't a bad romantic comedy. I liked that it wasn't one hundred percent predictable.
I've so far seen five of the Oscar nominated ones and
          Hidden Figures
          was indeed my favorite.

            Just as I suspected; ""
            La La Land
" is a "good" (as in "not bad" but not worth all the fuss) film and "
            Fences
" is yet another bitter scenery chewing Oscar gambit for Denzel Washington.
Cakey, I think I know what you mean by "depressing"
            Case in point: Aronofsky's "
            Requiem For A Dream
" while there was no denying it a brilliant and powerful film is was depressing as hellliterally. And as good as it was,
            one viewing
            was plenty.

That's how i felt about Dances With Wolves. Great movie. Great acting, etc. But terribly depressing. I wish i hadn't watched the ending. And i never want to see it again.

I was thinking seeing a movie tonight too. Now that the Oscars nominations have been announced, I realized how behind I was on my movies.
Probably see one of the Best Picture nomsnot sure which one yet.

Never did end up checking out anything. Hubby's grandma had a health scare and spent the weekend in the hospital, so we were dealing with that. She's finethank the Lordbut after traveling all weekend we're broke, so it'll be a while before another movie.
Moonlight looked gooda positive Black male rolemodel in a movie is something you don't see every day. But, Hidden Figures has my girl Taraji. And I have heard nothing but good things about Manchester by the Sea, butit's heart breaking to hear about the sexual assault stuff and Casey Affleck, because I always thought he was a cutiemuch better looking than his brother. So, I don't knowstill haven't figured out what to watch.
As far as snacks go, eh, I don't know. I'm not a big popcorn fanespecially at $20 a tuband everything else is too messy. I usually don't eat when watching a movie unless I am home.

As for movie recommendation I EMPLORE YOU to rent "Hell and High Water" (best picture nominee) and lemme it's got my vote! THE best film I've seen in years! And this is coming from a former film major and a current movie nut.
p.s. Glad you mother in law is doing better.

I get it, but I promise you it's not just some testosterone-fest shoot 'em up. It is a richly layered, character driven, parable that will perhaps move you in ways you least expect.
The LAST THING I'd wanna see is some Steven Segal or Sylvester Stallone sophomoric shoot em upand I hope you catch it on cable a year from now and thoroughly enjoy it.
It is CRIMINAL the way this great film was mis-promoted, and I'm almost certain the trailer was edited for the "action film" crowdit's a shame. It wasn't nominated for 4 academy awards for nothing.
But, to each their own I just hate for you to miss out.

We just watched an oldie "Crazy in Alabama". If you haven't seen it, it was a hoot! I loved little PeeJoe (this child actor grew up to be Christopher on NCIS-New Orleans. He still has his same adorable accent.) and Melanie Griffin was perfect as the leading lady.
                                Enjoy your movie!!

                                    Thanks, Count.
I want to see "Hidden Figures," before the Oscar ceremony.
Buttered popcorn is, of course, a given. "Junior Mints," is my favorite sweet treat for the theater. I'm not much of a soft drink enthusiast. If we can find a theater that offers coffee (a few do), I'd prefer that. Otherwise, I'll go with a Coke with lots of ice.
                                    Thanks, again!

I want to see "Hidden Figures," before the Oscar ceremony.
                                      Hey, Div
Yes, I'd like to see HF before the Oscars too. All the critics I've heard not only gave it very positive reviews, but they also say it'll make you feel GREATa real "feel good" movie. And after trudging through 2016 (or as my niece is fond of saying, "two thousand and suck-teen", lol!) I think we could ALL benefit from a bit of "feeling good."
                                      Have a nice weekend, Div.
"Stick with me, baby, and you'll be fartin' thru silk."

The theaters down here have started serving iced tea, sweet or unsweet, which is a nice change from soda. Most of the time I opt for a large unsweet tea, but every once in a while I crave something sweet and carbonated.

I would like to see Split. Large popcorn with extra butter, dark chocolate M&Ms, and a large Dr Pepper.
But put some money aside, because you're going to need to buy me a movie pass on February 20th so I can see all the Academy Award nominees.
