Your Favourite Ice Cream flavours?

I make my own "ice cream" with frozen bananas, milk, and a blender so the flavors are all banana such-and-such. Sometimes it is vanilla, sometimes a variety of mint, sometimes chocolate, but usually just plain banana. It is more of a milk shake, really. True story.

I also make ice creams at home but not very often. I use evaporated milk and cream along with milk. Ice creams made using banana are delicious!
and there is nothing more in this world that I like to drink for pleasure than milkshakes. I drink coke more than milkshakes but it is because I am addicted to aerated drinks.

Frozen banana shakes are mostly for taste but in the summer they slightly lower my core temperature so they also have a somewhat functional purpose. In the winter they seem to significantly lower it. Adding the mint seems to psychologically boost that chilly sensation.

I don't know how I became addicted to it but I have been since I was 9. I cannot finish a dinner without having cola. It's that fizz thing that I have to have. Many times I will open a can and drink just 1/3rd and waste the remaining. But I need to have some.

Perhaps substitute with seltzer water, like Canada Dry. That sugar could wreak havoc on your teeth and liver. Though maybe less so if it is just once per day rather than continually throughout.

I have cut down my soft drink intake a lot. Around 10 years back I consumed something around 1.8 liters/day but now it's more like 350 ml. I sure could try substitute but I have been too lazy to do that.

I have a sugar problem, so I make my own icecream with nonfat milk, plus a dollop of nonfat milk powder. Mix together real well, with whatever is your favorite flavor. I love coffee, so that's what I use. No, it doesn't taste like commercial icecream, but it's good enough on a hot summer day!

- Pistachio
- I agree about Strawberry Cheesecake. I just discovered it and it's addictive. There's also Blueberry Cheesecake now.
- I like Butterscotch on Vanilla.

Butterscotch is great in ice creams but I like it even more in custard.
when you say Pistachio do you mean ice creams with slight flavour of pistachio or complete pistachio ice cream by themselves?
Glad you like Strawberry Cheesecake. The Haagen Daz one is best. Do you greeks have any special ice cream flavour?

When I say pistachio I mean the green ice cream thoroughly flavored with nuts mixed in.
I'm not sure if Greeks even have ice cream traditionally! But as for ethnic ice cream, Japanese green tea ice cream is delicious.

If you like pistachio and want to try ethnic ice cream of some serious quality then try Bastani Sonnati - Persian ice cream with rose water and pistachio. Those Iranians know how to use pistachio!
I am pretty surprised that Greeks don't have any ethnic ice cream.

I googled it and there are some "Greek" ice creams with feta cheese and halvah and all kinds of stuff. I think these are modern inventions.
But unbeknownst to me there is traditional Greek ice cream and like everything else the Greeks claim they invented ice cream! Lol.

Is halva a Greek thing? I though it was Turkish thingy.

Lol…if it's not known to you then it's all made up ie, especially when you say Greeks often claim they invent things they don't. I hope they invented democracy for sure!

Halvah is allover the Middle East. But the Greeks invented it.

But I'm an Americanized Greek, so there's a lot about traditional culture I don't know.
