80's/90's movie set in Siberian region?

A boy lives with his family in the desolate wasteland. Early on, a delivery truck / mail truck comes, but breaks down when it arrives, so the driver must stay with them. That's all I really recall. I think it was foreign language. Any idea??

Sounds like
Urga (1991)
. Wonderful film directed by Nikita Mikhalkov. The truck driver is Russian (Soviet), however it's set in the Mongolian steppes, not sure if Mongolia or Inner Mongolia which would be China.
And thank you for reminding me of this film. The DVD (bought at huge expense from far away) is due another spin. I'm taking it out right now lest I forget, and am looking forward to watching it tonight.
