My review: There were some things here that I really liked, but some things didn't completely work for me. The cinematography was excellent. Costumes and production design were great and the score was a standout as well. Performances were hit and miss. I liked Willem Dafoe best, but thought Nicholas Hoult fell a little flat. I was expecting more out of Bill Skarsgård. Everyone else was mostly fine. The story wasn't always engaging though and the film felt overlong. They could have cut 20 minutes from it easily. Some scenes felt like that went on too long, but other scenes felt too quick. There were a couple really effective moments though. A mixed bag (or maybe a mixed coffin?), but still worth watching. 7/10 is my rating.

when you outline the story of Stoker's Dracula it's like a short film despite being a novel. and 2 1/2 hours is too long. movies today are just too long. if you are making a slowburn brooding thing you cannot have it that long because whether good or bad it feels long to begin with. the story of dracula is a programmer.

Wild to me that for once, Bill is not as noticeable as the monster as the rest of the cast; they all stole the show, even Lily who I had low hopes about.
Willem's character with his cats and supernatural knowledge was my fav. -

I am about half way through with it and I am not sure I will finish it.
I didn't realize the director of this film also directed The Lighthouse. I probably wouldn't have bothered if I had known.
The only positive so far in this film is the production.
