Mike is 6' 4". He can be a schlub and a bad husband and still almost get excused. Jessie is 5' 8". He has to be ripped, charming, and a perfect dad.
Almost all problems women seem to have are with tall men. Tall men know they can get away with pretty much anything and their wife/girlfriend will take them back. A guy who is 5' 8" has to be perfect in every other way.

I've never heard of such a theory before. Does it apply to tall women vs short women too?

what? Tall men earn more, are hired more easily (white collar jobs), and have an easier time dating. All of that is shown to be true by hundreds of studies.
Men show preference for short women. Tall women (over 5' 10") tend to have a harder time dating than short women.
This is all well known. I'm 47 and have been observing it for many years.
I'm not expressing an opinion. These are social facts, like saying it's easier for a white guy than a black guy to get a job on Wall Street.

Doesn't matter if your face isn't 10/10. I'm 6'2 and have been rejected about 10 times this year.

Not too different from real life.
There was a study from Duke University that found that for every inch of height under 5 foot 10 inches a short man needs to make $30,000 more than a man of 5 feet and 10 inches or higher to be seen just as dateable by women who were polled in the study.
