The scene where Will left the dinner table and went up to the bathroom.
When he stood in front of the mirror and looked at himself.
I got a sort of vibe of "The Shining" or "Phantasm" when they got pulled inside the wall or whatever.
Was this scene even nodding an 80s movie?

Not every scene is a homage.

Definitely the last episode of Twin Peaks
Dexter: I am a father, a son.. and a serial killer

Wasn't there a scene in Poltergeist where a guy was looking in the mirror of a bathroom and pulls his own face off after eating some steak that turns to maggots?
Not a direct reference 😉 but the mirror/view of another darker world kinda fits. Probably a bit too dark for a PG 13, although (I've just checked it) and the Plasticine model looks more comedy than horror nowadays ha ha ha 😄
