There you are, at a party, enjoying the conversation and what everyone is thinking about doing later. It's good times and you are aware that you are in the moment living them
Suddenly (There's always a suddenly in these tales) someone says something that it a little iffy. Quite unusual murmurs are heard and sends the sentiment of the room into a bit of a flurry. People lean in to hear what is being talked about…
"So this guy, he's driving this big vehicle, I mean it's too big for him and there's lots of room in there that's not being used. I'm thinking, why don't we charge him more for taking up more space than he needs? I mean it's more money that we can spend on books for the kids to read. Why not let him have his cake and eat it, with some crumbs benefitting the community overall? If he can't afford it, he can just downsize his vehicle, it's not like he needs the space or would notice the difference!"
Lots of nodding goes on. Some "Hmmm" and "Uh-huh" noises are heard. Someone even put their fingers to their lips and scrunches their face a little. Milly (Because they're always a Milly in these stories) puts her hand up and gasps aloud. Everyone settles down to listen to what she is about to say…
"So this guy, he gets a smaller vehicle. I mean something that works for him, not tiny or embarrassing. But we've missed out on those crumbs we would have got if he'd kept the bigger one. No books for the children at the school. We've now got a generation of illiterate children who can't read or have access to reading all because this guy wouldn't keep his big car and pay a little extra for everyone else to get the chance of a car HALF THE SIZE of his…I don't know, there's something about this guy I don't like. I mean he could easily just pay the additional fee for the bigger vehicle but he chose not to. Like he's some kind of big playing thief who can just flaunt his money and make no reprimand for his privilege. I bet he's white too! Probably got his job through his father. Probably a whole bunch of em' too. All dancing around in their white bedsheets setting fire to crosses. I say we cut their dicks off!
