You do realize that 1) Neil is not the only gay in Hollywood and 2) you're the one who brought him up. Maggie Sawyer was the first openly gay character on the show.

A superheavy gay presence is a staple of the CW. The cop being gay is true to comic origins but sister Alex getting wet every time she sees her is new and totally random.
Gays are accepted now CW. No need to hamfist them in to meet a quota. Take a page from Buffy on how to do it right.
