Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Elvis

She was only 14 when their relationship started. How do you not mention that, one of the most controversial aspects of his life? It calls the details of the rest of the movie into question.

Because it was common in the south back then. His own father Vernon married at 17 and Priscilla's mom married at 15. 2nd they only saw each other for 2 months (and with parental approval) and didn't see her again until she was 17. She moves to Graceland when she was almost 18. 3rd she slept with his entourage to get to meet him. He thought she was a virgin though, hence why they didn't have sex until marriage when she was almost 22.

"She slept with his entourage." All of them? I'd love to know what books you've been reading about Elvis and Priscilla. Would you mind listing a few of them please because I'm also an Elvis fan and I'd like to get some new insights into his life.

Not all of them, she slept with Currie Grant 2-3x if he would introduce her to Elvis. Elvis never knew, he thought she was a virgin when he married her.
Honestly it's from various books. But if you want just 1 book to have an idea who Elvis was, my favorite Elvis book and love story is In the Twilight of Memory by June Juanico. If you want a more comprehensive heavy detailed book, Peter Guralnick's 2 book Elvis bio (though I have some issues with it). Down at the End of Lonely Street has the Alberta quote btw.
As for Elvis and Priscilla, it's rather complicated because a lot of books will contradict her account. So if you want to read her book, perhaps best to read Guralnick first and Childbride after E&M. Priscilla for example has an obviously made up fight with her mom about moving to Graceland at 16, but every other book verifies, she moves in 1.5 months before her 18th birthday. So you don't know when she lies or if she exagerrates. Like Elvis never sleeping with her after LMP, later she says they did in fact have sex after but not very often. Also I read all the main early and later gfs account chronologically to have a good understanding of Elvis' dating pattern. Priscilla's was definitely the most different and a turning point.
Ps. Also I just wanted to point out that Priscilla sleeping with an entourage before getting to Elvis is nothing new in his world. Even Billy Stanley's wife and Jerry Schilling's mistress all went to the entourage first before trying to seduce Elvis. Linda even catches a female staff kissing Elvis while he is passed out barely conscious. So his fans can get pretty devious in getting inside the circle in order to get to him.

Great information! Thanks. What a weird life they all led.

              She denies it
Priscilla Presley filed a lawsuit against Grant in October 1996 for telling biographer Suzanne Finstad that they had sex, stating in her action that his claims were fabrications.

Yes she does. I would love to hear their conversation though, it was recorded and and both were subjected to a PSE or personality stress evaluator by Dr. Ray Gunther, a more accurate form of a polygraph.

What is the reason for giving a free pass to men from the older generation, when girls in those days were just like those in today's society?

I honestly don't think men and women then are the same as today, certainly not in the west. My great grandmother for example was 15 and married by great grandfather who was 25. And they had a happy marriage.
