I actually thought Austin did great! And besides, it's a movie, not a documentary.
Now Tom Hanks as Col. Parker? He was way outta place and his Dutch accent was abysmal.

The whole time I was watching the movie I was thinking "is that really how Elvis looked"? Because it wasn't the picture I had in my head of him. Something was off about the eyes, he looked like he was covered in makeup, more feminine, more supermodel-esque. It was kind of distracting, but not nearly as distracting as the living cartoon that was Tom Hanks' character. The movie was alright but pretty overhyped by people who I constantly heard recommendations from.

Yeah, something's very off with that guy. I think it's because he's always made out to be the relatable, sympathetic character in most of his famous movies. Just makes me wonder what he's trying to hide underneath all that acting.

Elvis was known for his androgynous look actually, eye makeup, long greasy hair, flashy bright clothes and jewelry. In the 50s, he wore a lot of pink and black combo, lace or sheer shirts, and would tie them above his belly button. His look in this film is fairly accurate and are duplicates of the clothes he used to wear. Elvis set the stage for the androgynous Rockstar look that Jimmy Page, David Bowie nd metalheads imitated.

In the film, performance wise, yes. LR represented all the influences Elvis had as a kid. His wild performances at the time were just him lost in the moment, he didn't know anyone else who did that at the time. But likely they all were influenced by gospel and spiritual performances in the south.
Looks wise, Elvis was known and bullied as a teen for his garrish look, so no, not LR in this case. -

Butler's related to Elvis. Distantly, but still related.
I always imagined Adam Lambert playing this role if a movie were to be made about Elvis.
At first, I didn't think I would get into this specifically because I couldn't see Butler as Elvis, but it turned out to be a very good movie.
Learning that Elvis actually did wear mascara because his eyelashes were blonde and couldn't be seen, so he wore the mascara to make the lashes visible, and really did dye his hair black, it all came together. He also really did wear eyeliner. It wasn't just done for the movies.

I was part of an Elvis discord group and they posted close up pics of Elvis in the 70s, and we talked about his blond eyelashes. I wish I could find those pics now to post here.
He also started dyeing his eyelashes black for the 68 Comeback Special onwards. He stopped later on when the dye got into his eyes worsening his glaucoma. I wonder if the dye contributed to it actually.
Ps. I found one: -

Bono too wears shades because of glaucoma
I'm not sure because I was prescribed eye drops to help me from getting it but I got it anyway
