Ive been reading into it. Due to Mars harsh terrain it has forged a more tough individual in the Martians and due to the fact they need power suits to fight Earth soldiers.

They don't need the power suit to fight Earthers any more than we need cars to outrun horses. Battle suit is what infantry gear is evolving into plus they are needed for space fights and marines' primary work is boarding action.
