Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Doctor Who

    Laygos meets Trinidad man, aight!
The man who played Abraxas was a good actor, far too good for this show.
Overall the fall of Ur-Gilash and the continued plight of Om was a good concept, it should just have been played out over a few episodes rather than being squeezed into one. As drunken as the Beeb is, repeatedly pointing out skin tones, the cast managed to pull together a reasonable performance with their lines. Having Bell know how a metafiction engine works when there was a perfectly capable woman who could have done so shows lax ownership of the record, and if this is some sort of flex on writing - it is a poor one.
All in all it's a White Saviour story, but with Alfonse as the lead.
They probably should have done some location shots in Nigeria, Idris Elba has put a lot of money into the theatre scene over there hoping to bring up televisual productions - would have at least brought in some fresh eyes in new viewers. People have wanted him as The Doctor for years but he's too pricey I'd reckon.
Nice seeing Jo Martin again, doesn't help with continuity though
I liked it, it could have been a lot better but modern Who always can.
    It was twee
