What are people's opinion on the movie? Especially considering the fact that Rogue One is days away from release.
And where would you rank it amongst the 6 other Star Wars movies?

I though it was ok certainly better than those three that were made before it. Did I concider it great? No but it was watchable enough.
To make a great film you need three things - the script, the script and the script -Alfred Hitchcock -

Personally, I, like many others, got caught up in the firestorm of nostalgia that the movie provided. However, once the layers began to peel back, what it revealed to me was a completely hollow and lifeless movie that added nothing of value to the Star Wars mythos and it was then that I really began to feel like the movie was absolutely worthless.
I hope Rogue One is good to rinse away the bad vibe the movie left behind in its wake. No pun intended.

Much like Abram's
Trek 09
, it's not perfect, but it's probably what the franchise needed at that point.
If you feel like Picard screaming how many lights there are, it's time to walk away from the thread. -

I could have done without the Death Star 9000, and I wasn't too happy with the state of the universe as a whole. Still I had a really good time watching the movie, with the new characters probably being the biggest reason for it.
All in all I have to say that I am definitely way more excited about Episode VIII than I ever was about TFA. Before the movie I suffered from somewhat of a Star Wars fatigue, but now that's a bit better.
Still not sure about the anthology movies though. I got my ticket for Rogue One, but I can't see me getting much more excited about the Han Solo prequel or the Boba Fett project than I am right now, which is not at all. -

I liked it Not nearly as much as New Hope or Empire Strikes Back, but it stood head and shoulders over the prequel trilogy with ease.. Finn got annoying, but that made it all the better to see Ren put him down, even if it wasn't permanent.
Biggest downside for me was no reunion of the old cast, they were there, sure. but the ability to see them all on screen together one last time fell down a reactor shaft on Starkiller Base.
I can take something good away from every Star Wars offering (Even the prequels For example, Ep 1, Qui Gonn Jinn and Darth Maul as characters) And Ep. 7 didn't make it hard to find good things to take away from it in the least.
I think the downside for Star Wars is the OT won't be topped. it started a cultural phenomenon in a simpler time when movies were more about the story, and people were less distracted and wanted those two hours of entertainment. Thanks to Batmeh v Supermeh Yawn of Justice, the "S" now stands for Sidekick -

It's major flaw was that it sacrificed character and story progression for the sake of nostalgia. That said, I really enjoyed it. It was probably what the franchise needed. They needed to play it safe and remind everyone that this was the Star Wars that they knew and loved.
But moving forward, they have a responsibility to take things in a new direction. If they don't, they'll lose me. I'm not interested in seeing a complete rehash of the OT.

Might be time to check yourself into an assisted living home. The dementia is setting in. Your fantasy didn't happen, so of course I'm not going to "admit it." You're confusing me with someone else, dipsht.

Defenders?
You act like it's some big conflict here. You have no proof, and no one else seems to remember your little fantasy. Truthfully, I don't even care to defend myself here because I don't care about you or your stupid theory. And that's really the difference between us, isn't it? You care WAAAY more about this sht than I do. And considering your age, that's pretty sad.
