Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Arrival

Movies like this are too afraid to go there. And wherever "there" is, this movie was too chicken to go. A big budget cop out if you ask me. The first act was good, then it was down hill from there. Amy Adams can do no wrong right now, and neither can Jeremy Renner, both of who seriously helped this thing along. Looking forward to seeing if the movie gets better the second time or worse. The aliens were unique and scary definitely worth the price of the ticket. The story? That is, well, another thing entirely. Not even in the class with Robert Zemeckis' Contact, but definitely worth watching at least once. In this new, scary ass Donald Trump world we're living in right now, I suspect that this benign, life affirming little story will be quite well received. But not by me.

The minute you became a child (Trump is the boogeyman). I became aware that your post is drivel.

Sorry LawrenceofAlabama. The OP is correct but was polite about it. You, on the other hand, give Alabama folks a bad name. Err ah wait a second

Can't say without spoiling the film. But you can believe its where this movie didn't go. One of many places it didn't, in my opinion.

I really enjoyed the film and I'm thinking of purchasing the book. Are they similar and is it worth it?

The book is the onky fictional piece of literature that I've read and enjoyed. So I say this as someone who hates reading fiction, yes it's worth it

Nice pointless thread if you're not even going to talk about your biggest flaw with the film.

Yeah this thread is an even bigger cop out that the movie. At least the move has some narrative, even if it avoided going where it "should" 😄
I, still waiting for my pm btw
