Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Starlet

This film came across as Slacker meets Harold & Maude with both films being superior to this. The acting was all right but the characters were highly unsympathetic. I wanted to slap the 2 stupid porn stars and their idiot pimp.
Sadie looked liked Bela Lugosi on a bad day. Melissa was great at the XXX expo
freaking out but the relationship between Sadie and Bree was highly improbable and wholly unsatisfying.Starlet was the true star of this film, and I haven't liked a dog in a film this much since Uggie in The Artist.

Harold & Maude was the foundation and inspiration for this film according too the director.Since the story took place in the porn capitol he figured throw in the adult movie subplot. The expo scene with melissa was pretty good as well as the scene where. She goes to the office to get her money and causes a scene. Those were her two best scenes.I also agree that the sadie/bree relationship was improbable and unsatisfying. It seemed forced like these two people were just thrown into a situation with out a clue of what to do.I would take the slapping of the pimp and melissa to the next level and .I would of wrote in mike myers or jason type character. That steps in and whipes those two beep stains off the face of the planet.I could of both died in a car accident and i wouldn't of cared let alone have much sympathy for them.

Of course their relationship was improbable; they were using each other to fill voids.

I agree with you. Jane just didn't realize that she was filling Sadie's void till the end scene at the cemetery.

I saw this type of post for another movie over the last few months. Once someone watches Harold and Maude ten or twenty times, perhaps they might want to try a different movie to watch. Starlet is very much worthy of our attention.
