They both are awesome. Fact.

They are similar in terms of the main subject but they are completely different in terms of every other aspect.
If you love raw hand to hand combat and action scenes closer to reality, you will love The Raid too, Personally I didn't like Dredd, some elements were good but overall, that film couldn't get me. I couldn't get the same enjoyment that I got from The Raid and by the way I watched Dredd first and The Raid later
The Raid is a movie that I will watch again and again -

You watch Dredd when you want to see special effects and gun fights.
You watch The Raid when you want to see bad ass hand to hand fights.
Both movies are action movies but each one is made with a different intention.
I like both movies and do not compare them to each other because in my opinion, both movies are awesome in their own right.
Although the Expendables has a popular cast, I feel that Stallone kind of "sucks" when it comes to fight choreography plus his shaky camera work annoys me as well. Not to mention he did no justice to most of those iconic stars he works with other than himself and Statham. -

Basically, Dredd is an unofficial remake. It has the same plot and pretty much the same devices (the first scene with the main character gearing up before the mission, the big bad executing his competitors in cold blood, the twist involving corrupt cops), and both of them involve creative use of slo-mo.
I liked The Raid better, I found it to be better written and it was really suspenseful since you could feel the cops in this one were low on ammo, cut off from civilization and desperate to survive. -

I saw Dredd first and liked it. I saw this second and LOVED it.

I thought Dredd was just another action film with very little I have seen before. I actually cared about the lead in The Raid. whereas the character of Judge Dredd I found way over the top. I honestly couldn't care about him

Both are great movies. There is no way that either is the rip off of the other (as many idiots keep claiming)
This is an AMAZING martial arts movie, where Dredd is an amazing comic book adaptation. Dredd isn't much for h2h, except when he has to. That said, Dredd could have solo'd this building himself, he's just that badass
Though the main character in this movie was beep incredible, his brother was pretty good as well and the guy who played the bad guy at the end (or his brother? beep can't remember) ONE of them is a former bodyguard for the president of their country. The equivilent of ex special forces/current Secret Service, that type of beep He also trained some of the best of the best for their military so we got to see some really amazin fight choreography.
The Raid was definitely the more suspenseful movie. As I was positive Judge Dredd wouldn't die and pretty sure his partner wouldn't die. In this it felt more like an "all bets are off" type of movie.
I think a fan of one would definitely love the other, all this to say. -

I personally loved both films. The basic concept is the same, but aside from that, they are both very different films. I would say that yes, you would like this movie. But I must recommend that you watch the original indonesian version with the english subtitles instead of watching the dubbed over version, since the indonesian actors gave in great performances.
