"No simple emotional Images" - The Secret of Dot Painting
Who travels through Australia will encounter them everywhere: Dot patterns.
On mugs, bags, postcards. Where do they come from and what do the motifs mean?
A trip to the Red Centre provides the answers.
A work by Clifford Possum Tjapaltjarri at the Araluen Arts Centre in Alice Springs.

"Warlugulong" fetches $2.4 Million at Auction
    The monumental painting
    "Warlugulong"
by Clifford Possum Tjapaltjarri is considered an icon of the Papunya movement. Created in 1977, the work tells a Dreamtime story about the fire spirit Lungkata in finely graduated dots. According to accounts, the painting hung unnoticed in a bank cafeteria in the 1970s.
Decades later, its significance became apparent.
    "Warlugulong"
fetched 2.4 million Australian dollars at auction in 2007. Today, it's part of the collection of the National Gallery of Australia in Canberra and is considered one of the country's most important works of art.

Loooooooong and very interesting article. šŸ‘†šŸ¼ā€‹
    The painting
    "Warlugulong"
(1977) is a bit too large for a PC screen.
Detail showing the skeleton of one of Lungkata's sons.
