onesummersday is exactly right. Her acting was spot on. As irritating as the character's style might be to you the actress did a superb job in playing that role. That is exactly how a lot of the mexican gangster chicks act.

Not just that but she was obviously bisexual or lesbian, so she isn't gonna behave like most straight girls either.
She is in a gang, she is a lesbian, and she has a lot of control in said gang, so she is gonna be a loud in your face person trying to establish herself constantly as someone to not mess with. She can't be sweet and get any respect in a situation like that.
You can't be a tough woman without some man calling you an annoying b!+ch. That's just this sexist world for you.
As a bisexual woman, she didn't annoy me at all. I thought she was badass. Obviously, I'm not pro gang life, but she was smart and she handled everything very well for the life she was in. She was able to play women really well too, treating them nicely and getting some loving when she wanted it. The other guys she was with really needed her around because she was able to handle everything under pressure. Whether it was driving during a shooting or choosing when to make a hit on the cops, she had things squared out pretty well up until she got shot down. But I understand having a shoot off when the other option is life in prison. She had to call the cops putas and shoot them, to ensure her legacy. -

Yeah, getting yourself killed and smoking dope with a bunch of murderers is very smart indeed!
If only more trash like her could be as "smart" and we'd have less of this garbage in our society. -

Not going to make excuses because there is always a choice. But once you have lived in those neighborhoods it's a totally different story. A lot of the kids in the neighborhood who don't join a gang get jumped or picked on because they don't have people. It's really about survival for them.
I knew a guy in my dorm who had this issue. Had to join a gang or get beat up everyday. Went out of state for college and is never planning on going back. -

Focking A she was spot on. OP seriously? Do you not know what realism is? Have you not watched any documentaries featuring the real versions of people portrayed in this film? Hech I've only watched docs but Heringbone here has seen it first hand.
That aside yes, I did find her irritating but not in the negative way you did. I found her irritating in a positive way, in that she was a vulgar, brutal, despicable person and that was irritating. I felt more passionately about her than I did any others of that little crew - I felt passionately that she was a disgusting person. I found it so rewarding watching the cun- t gunned down - that's how strongly I felt, that she was a vile cun- t to me. Well, that displays how spot on she was.

Which Mexican chick. Like half of SoCal is Mexican in the film.
Though no the most annoying person was the white girl Janet that Gyllenhalls character was datinhg. Soooooo entirely nebraskan cornball. Wanted to punch her in the face during her scenes. Though I suppose that 's actually points for her accurate portrayal of her character -

Bit harsh on Janet, even though she was incredibly cheesy.
The OP must be referring to the one who thought she was the kingpin or something. Her acting was awful and definitely ruined the film whenever she appeared. That comical scowl on her faceterrible. -

Gundam_bravo4-
Thanks for stereotyping everyone from Nebraska. That's like me stereotyping everyone that watches anime as being virgin nerds.

Yes, I'll still generalize Anime watchers as virgin nerds if need the point to come across, despite that I know people who are normal folk, gang-bangers, and drug dealers who watch it.
Though, you'll get over it once you realize not to take everything (especially on a movie msg board on t3h interw3bz) at full value.
