Question about the nurses and the ghosts.

Maybe I heard wrong but I thought Elias said the nurses were sisters of the man who built the house, Edward Philippe Mott. Since the house was built in the 1700's how would that be possible?
Also what's up with the ghosts? I'm guessing they can present themselves in whatever form they want. The hunters that came out of the woods all clearly showed their gunshot wounds. Piggy runs around in the pig head he died in. However, Priscilla doesn't go around with her head bashed in, and when we saw the nurses playing with Flora one wasn't missing her arms and the other still had her head. -

He said the nurses were sisters with each other, then talked about Edward Mott afterwards.
The ghost rules for this season seem to adhere to the ghost rules from seasons 1 and 5.

I only started watching last season, and I must have missed the rules last season. So the rules are the ghosts can present themselves to the living in any form they choose?
