I think the only way to try and save Prometheus would have been a tight 2 hour film with David and Shaw in a room throwing arguments at each other about what happened in Prometheus. While that could have been a good movie, and possibly even justified Prometheus' existence, that was never the intent (As there was never the thought to have any intent) and would've let down just about everyone who wasn't focused solely on the story.
But hey two Michael Fassbenders! That'll work

Your mate, that crazy lady who was into alchemy, insisted that David (the android) would fall in love with Shaw (the human). I'd just like to take this opportunity to point out how wrong she was 🤭 but she was ****ing nuts.
I enjoyed Noomi and would have liked to have seen what happened next with her, but she was more or less erased in A:C
Fassbender was great and did his best.
You stupid fuckers, you know who you are. -

Kaskait was the lady you are referring to Dazed and yes, she was nut
But I like nuts, it makes things more interesting
I'm sure Kaskait still had her crucible moment with the two Davids playing music together or something. She sure was assured of her theory just as Taudarian was certain in his…I can't remember the name of it offhand but it involved ports, rain, fire, rebirth and redemption with some other semi-religious themes thrown in for good measure too
His was quite the observation for what is popular fiction which makes it to movies.
I wish I could remember it now, it was a pretty solid framework even if considered outlandish by some.
Noomi did really well with what she had, sadly the story that she was playing out isn't the one which made it to screens and so her, and the rest of the remarkable crew - even Fifield and Millburn, were let down not by their performances* but by a poor story which was well executed.
Who knows, maybe Didley Squat will return to it one day with a 'Director's Cut' even though he said he wouldn't (like with Alien - which he did)
*Charlie Theron's "Father" line excluded.

- the alien isn’t scary when it’s CGI
- alien movies work better with middle-aged people, not young zoomers in their 20s
- alien movies are supposed to be bio-punk, not whatever Buffy the vampire **** this is
- alien movies are the same boring formula
- Ridley Scott needs to stop making alien movies
