It's a bit too long and there was a point where I would have checked the time on my phone if I hadn't turned it off, and it's hard to get involved with the actual characters when everyone has been morphed in to a lanky smurf (except perhaps Oona Chaplin who made her vicious, sexy tribal leader stand out). But it is of course technically brilliant and the second half picks up the pace and I enjoyed it more than I expected to.
However, I hope they don't make another one. The plot feels like a rehash of the previous film so if they do make Avatar 4 they need to really shake it up, and perhaps make it a bit shorter.

There are real people an the original colonisation site, which now looks like a giant Oil Refinery and where Edie Falco is now the military commander. There is also a few of the original research team, including Sigourney Weaver, hiding out in the jungle. And of course in the grand battle scene.
