time.
And it was very clear the makers wanted to rush through it, as fast as they can, to advance plot.
I'm talking about when the army people take Kyle Chandler to the military base and he escapes like Rambo.
WTF was that?
First, Chandler uses the 'talk about something irrelevant then when the soldier is distracted use knock out punch' technique. OK , fine.
Then, quick cuts: Chandler wears military uniforms, somehow leaves building, blows beep up, finds vehicle, escapes. beep
This part lasted no more then two minutes, making it obvious that even J.J. Abrams didn't believe this beep but he needed somehow to advance the plot.
This crap was more distracting than all of these blinding lens flares he had to shove at our faces every scene.
Still, I've enjoyed the movie, it was a pretty good teens/adventure type flick, I just had to release a rant about the above mentioned, mind numbing, G.I. Joe type section. -

My expectations for adherence to logic are relative to the premise. If a movie presents itself as a "serious" drama, I hold its internal logic to a higher standard. If it's about an escaped alien, that bar drops quite a bit.

A man drives headlong into a train which crashes and causes a small nuclear explosion. The man survives and his car is quite intact. After seeing this, are you really that hung up on how 'unrealistic' his escape from the army base was?

No one suggested sheep (or a car) couldn't derail one.
