Did they run out of money, or did the writers run out of words? I liked the movie very much until the end, then I felt cheated.

It shows that he lost his dog and still got the job done.
Came and buried him in x wife's house. Broken man outside of work strong inside

The ending symbolizes that life goes on. Sam lost his marriage, but life goes on. Sam lost the house he shared with his wife, but life goes on. Sam lost respect for his employers, but life goes on. Sam may have lost respect from his coworkers, but life goes on. He may have even lost respect for himself, but life goes on. And Sam lost his dog, butlife goes on.
You were shown a rather thought-proving ending, so there's no reason to feel "cheated."

The story lasted less than 24 hours, with no backstory, so we should expect an abrupt ending.
