Want to do the same work that Childers does-where to begin?

Hi I just finished watching machine gun preacher and loved it. It's one of the greatest movies I've ever seen, especially because it's based on a true story as well. I just want to know how can I do the same work Childers has been doing. Where would I begin? Do I just go to Sudan and find a milita recruiting office or something? I'm not trolling or anything, I just really want to make a difference in the world and help people. My life here in the states has been lacking and I need to fight injustice. For anyone who says I should join red cross or something, I ain't interested in pacifist endeavours ,I want to join a cause that has real meaning like the one Childers is a part of. A cause that will help me fight evil in the world, and not just pick up after it like human rights groups do. I would join the army but I'd rather not be a tool for the government imperialist agenda. If someone can help me out here that'd be great.
