Fat gross actors get very few chances to be the big star in big productions like this, they get even less chances than brown people.
Is there a version of black face for ugly people? **** face? There should be.
To make it worse, they gave the role to a handsome guy in decent shape, they are literally spending extra money to make him gross rather than just hire an actual gross person. -

Well to answer seriously I always just assume that stuff is Oscar/Emmy bait. Any time you take a well known actor and so drastically alter their appearance that they're unrecognizable the performance is seen as elevated. It's cheesy. Are they still filming? Maybe he will drop dead and it will become the greatest performance we've ever seen!
Also why aren't they getting torn apart by the Left for not hiring a real fatty?
