Well everyone thinks that about the Irish don't they? Even though pubs are closing by the dozen and binge drinking is down, there is a problem it's true. It's because the weather is often so bad that people drink here, in Russia, in Poland, The Czechs, the UK..they are pretty bad, especially for the liquid lunch.
Personally I hardly drink at all except a glass of wine a week. My wife doesn't drink at all. We're Irish by the way in case you hadn't realised, and yes I hate the stereotype as it BORES the hell out of me, that someone would presume I'm a big drinker just because I'm Irish. But at the same time I do understand it.
