I use the TD Ameritrade app mostly. But I have holdings with fidelity and vanguard also. I have never relied on an advisor. All my investments have been self directed based on my own research (and lots of luck).

The thing I'm interested in are the new roboadvisors like Wealthfront and Betterment. They auto manage trades using algorithms so you can be totally passive and avoid any fees to advisors or brokers. At some point I may shift everything over if I think it isn't very risky.

I really got into it over this past year when I invested right after the crash.
I made some major trades today. I tried to balance out the highly risky newer stocks by having the other half in Apple. We'll see.
