The missing sound of the clock on the tape is pretty flimsy. He could just say he forgot to wind it, or the battery died that day, or it was unplugged, or the time was off and he recently reset it, or it was broken and he later fixed it you get the idea. I just don't see him panicking and admitting guilt over that.

agreed and I feel most of his cases would be lost in court, but it is the 70's after all.

Yes but the show is about breaking the killer down and defeating him and assuming he'll give up not whether it holds up in court. Thanks to Columbo, Culp's character will throw himself at the mercy of the court.

FWIW, I'm very disappointed in Springsteen's political stances this past election season. Lost big time respect for him.
