Can this even be considered a Columbo episode? Acting F.Story line FCat & Mouse play between our hero and the killer,oh wait there was no killer,it was a kidnappingI may not have liked a cpl episodes of Columbo such as Butterfly in Shades of Grey or Last Salute, but at least those were somewhat on par with the Columbo formula..No time to Die shouldnt be in the category of a Columbo episode, just a movie of the week featuring Peter Falk

I think a lot of people agree
with you, and I read somewhere they took the plot for this episode from a story by Ed McBain, and changed the hero to Colombo.

Agree with this. Not the regular formula.

But perhaps this is a good thing because they are trying something different than the regular formula which may have been kind of tired at this point?

There is nothing "tiring" about "The Forumula". It's what makes the show. It's almost like the rules of the game. It just is.
