Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Columbo

I like when he snaps at Leonard Nimoy's character. It's very rare Columbo loses his cool and drops the bumbling detective persona.
So many stories, so little time.

There were so many great moments.
Here's a good one though. It always makes me smile…
The quality of the clip isn't great, but if you are a true Columbo fan, you'll remember this. It's from the episode with Dick VanDyke.

I always liked that scene with appealing Joyce Van Patten playing a nun.
          "Oh, that coat! That coat!"
and then when she's done being concerned and pious, she turns on her heels to attend to some other down and outer! Ha ha! I'm not a huge fan of the episode primarily because I don't care that much for Dick Van Dyke. But this scene is good and I've always liked Antoinette Bower, who plays the shrew.
"My life is over. I might as well dance with Johnny Slash!"

I thought it was funny when he told Van Patton that he was police, working on a case…. Oh! Undercover! That coat is very convincing!
Antoinette Bower. She played that character to perfection! I liked her!

Homeless guy in alley on the right at the eighteen second mark is ubiquitous Columbo extra Mike Lally. Lally appears in a slew of Columbo episodes in uncredited bit roles and was actually in the most Columbo episodes right after Peter Falk.

I just watched that episode yesterday. It's one of the 2nd season's better episodes. Martin Landau is a lot of fun in his dual role and Julie Newmar has charm and energy to spare.

When he was about to leave the room, then paused, put his finger in the air, then said "oh, just one more thing", and then turned around, with his eye still wobbling in its socket.

There’s an earlier episode where investigating the scene required him to go down a dirt hill. He ends up in a full gallop and falls down the hill. It’s hysterical

Columbo challenging cocky magician The Great Santini to get out of some handcuffs in order to confirm that he's the killer. Love how Columbo uses Santini's arrogance to his advantage.
